


The penultimate episode ended with Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) putting her eldest son Aegon on the Iron Throne upon her husband Viserys II's death, usurping her husband's chosen heir, and daughter from his first marriage, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy). The show has so far largely followed the story points in Fire and Blood, but it has also added things and made tweaks to Martin's plot, such as Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan) faking his own death, rather than being killed as he is in the book.
